When we think of “environment,” we often consider only the physical space around us. But curating your environment means going further. Every show you watch, every conversation you have, and every friend you keep shapes your mindset and mood. Take a moment to reflect on the energy each interaction brings. Some people fill us with joy and possibility, while others leave us feeling depleted. Maya Angelou put it perfectly: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

 

Now imagine that quote in reverse. People’s actions, whether supportive or draining, echo long after the words are spoken. This is why surrounding yourself with those who encourage and uplift you is so important.

 

Your body also absorbs the energy around you, which is why creating a healthy environment means more than just physical tidiness. It’s about filling your space with people, materials, and experiences that nourish and inspire you. This requires daily attention, as our spaces tend towards disorder if left unchecked.

Think of everything in your environment as a seed. Those seeds influence your thoughts, which shape emotions and drive actions. This creates the very environment that feeds your mind, in a powerful, ongoing cycle.
